If you think that hearing voices is just something schizophrenics have to deal with, you’ll be surprised to hear that approximately 15% of the Dutch population experiences these so called “auditory hallucinations”. And no, these people do not all suffer schizophrenia. Hearing voices is also encountered in other psychiatric disorders, in people with hearing loss, and even in healthy individuals.
In this video, Dutch psychiatrist Iris Sommer tells about the aim of her research to find new effective treatments for people who hear voices and who are resistant to antipsychotics.
