This week I’ve been traveling in the United States, moving from state to state during that time of year when many are busy with what is known as Valentine’s day. Since that is the theme Ive seen all around me, I thought to share a civil war love letter from 1865, written by Sullivan Ballou, a major in the Union Army, who wrote this letter to his wife and then died a week later in the Battle of Bull Run.
