2011 was allegedly the year of the e-book at major publishers claimed some books sold better in digital format than in print. Meanwhile ebook readers and tablet devices broke sales records around the world. But there is an underlying world of possibility that has also started to take share – one of collaborative alternative ways of publishing, funding and distribution. Ever so slowly, that formerly static object on a shelf in our homes is becoming something more dynamic, the kind of book we may not yet fully understand.  In his talk “Books are Actually Webpages”, Founder of FLOSS Manuals Adam Hyde shows us what is happening in the world of open source publishing and the future of the book.
