Few can remember how are why it all happened, but regardless, it is happening again. As a powerful fungus wipes out that familiar banana companies, farmers, and consumers have come to a crossroads. Replace the banana with a different kind that we are not accustomed to, or use science to strengthen and improve the one we’ve got?
Dan Koeppel is a journalist and writer who happens to love bananas. His book “Banana: The Fate of the Fruit that Changed the World” is a chronical of how bananas came to be what they are today, and what is to come in the near future.[powerpress]
