3 weeks after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a volunteer network from around the world took shape with the goal of helping people measure radiation levels and collectively map hotspots throughout the country. More than a year later that network continues to grow and now the mission has gone beyond the borders of Japan, to help people around the world map radiation levels in their communities.
On this week’s podcast we feature a presentation by Joi Ito at Ars Electronica last fall, as he presented the Safecast project.
