Scientists don’t know what it is or where the image was captured. The video was uploaded to YouTube two weeks ago, but experts are still trying to figure out what it is. The suggestions are that it is either a rare jellyfish or a whale placenta, but there are aspects of it that don’t fit the description (if a jellyfish, the organs and appendages don’t make sense; if it is a whale placenta, there is no explanation for the hexagonal shapes on the skin). Updated (14/05): Scientists say it is actually a rare species of jellyfish known as Deepstaria Enigmatica.
