Did you notice something strange about your radio reception this week? Perhaps an odd color in the night sky? Either way this week the Earth was struck by a Geomagnetic Storm thanks to this guy – a solar flare. The resulting discharge of protons traveling at great speeds is no danger to the earth, though it can effect radio signals and delivers a small dose of radiation to some high latitude flights.
