Last year, Capacitor – an interdisciplinary dance company from San Francisco – created a whole new way to help save the ocean. In collaboration with world-renowed marine biologists and oceanographers, the company developed the performance/exhibit “Okeanos – an ocean sensory immersion to repair our human and ocean relationship”. Trough dance, art, music and science, they wanted to inspire and educate their audience about the world’s oceans and the need to protect ocean habitats. The dance/circus performance incorporated choreography, apparatus, and set design by Capacitor Artistic Director Jodi Lomask, along with dance video, live vocalizations, and underwater cinematography.
