In September 2010, Google launched the first Street View imagery of the Antarctic; now, it has added some panoramic images of such important spots as the Ceremonial South Pole, Shackleton’s Hut or the South Pole Telescope. What’s amazing is the quality and clarity of the images.
The viewer is allowed to check the spot and ‘walk around’. This is particularly amazing in the case of the Shackleton and Scott’s huts, which remain intact and display many of the items of the explorers’ era. The quality of the images makes it a unique experience.
Below you can check Shackleton’s hut and the South Pole Telescope. According to Google’s Lat Long Blog, all these spots will be posted to the World Wonders site. Scott’s hut is already there and it looks amazing; while you check the place, you can also access information, videos and photos about it.
Enjoy!
